NGUNI CATTLE

Nguni stud farming.

The big revival of the beautiful Nguni cattle comes as no surprise. They are very likable animals and are resistant to most diseases and ticks. Furthermore, Nguni are more productive and eat what they find on the farm, including the reeds, something nobody else is interested in...

At Paardenkloof Estate there are two herds of 30 to 35 females to 1 male. Based on the ecology principles of the farm, the Nguni herd follows a natural rhythm and enjoys a free-grazing lifestyle. These principles also include alternative solutions to the complicated weening system where one avoids to put the mothers under stress so that they can conceive more easily.
